Telluride Ski Resort Announces Extended Ski Season
Ski Resort Will Stay Open an Additional Week in April with Lifts 7 & 9
Telluride, Colorado (March 13, 2009) – Telluride Ski Resort announced plans today to keep Coonskin and Plunge lifts (7 & 9) running for an additional week after the scheduled resort close date of April 5.
“Spring skiing conditions are consistently great in April,” says Dave Riley, CEO of the Telluride Ski Resort. “Extending the season to April 12 is our way of saying thank you to our loyal skiers and boarders.”
The extended season will include all terrain off the Plunge and Coonskin Lifts, including See Forever, Milk Run and Lookout. No other terrain in the ski resort’s permit area will be open for skiing during this time. A gate located near patrol headquarters at the top of the Plunge Lift will allow access to the USFS backcountry access gate at the top of Gold Hill. Hiking access will be along the See Forever trail only. Lifts will operate from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
All Telluride season passes will be valid through April 12. Non-pass holders, looking for bonus turns and great last minute deals, will find adult ticket prices reduced to $50, with senior and child tickets for $25. Additionally, $25 tickets will be offered to season pass holders or employees from any other ski resort in North America!
Giuseppe’s will be open for food and beverage service throughout the extended week, with a barbecue and live music set up on the snow beach. Locals can plan, per usual, for the annual end-of-season party at Gorrono Ranch Sunday, April 5, the last day all lifts will operate.
All resort ropes and boundaries are to be adhered to. Skiers caught outside of the provisional parameters and ski area boundaries could face strict penalties, which may include loss of skiing privileges.
Regionally Wolf Creek, Purgatory, Aspen Highlands and Crested Butte are all scheduled to close on April 5.
